Description Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5S 9MP
The 9.1-megapixel Panasonic DMC-TZ5 packs a 28mm wide-angle, 10x optical zoom Leica DC lens in a compact design, ideal for the active photographer who needs a versatile digital camera. By combining a 28mm wide-angle lens, which lets you capture a wider-framed shot when compared to a traditional 35mm camera, with the TZ-Series 10x optical zoom, you're empowered to take expanded shots, both wide and far. Panasonic's Intelligent Auto technologies are also expanded, with new Intelligent Exposure and Digital Red-eye Correction.
With the addition of Intelligent Exposure and Digital Red-eye Correction, Panasonic’s Advanced Intelligent Auto mode consists of seven intuitive technologies, all which are specifically designed to help make photo-taking an enjoyable and seamless process unnoticed by the consumer -- helping them to take clear photos. When in Advanced Intelligent Auto mode, the following technologies all operate automatically; no settings need to be manually changed.
Also new to the TZ5 is the Venus Engine IV, Panasonic’s new high-performance image processing LSI. The Venus Engine IV produces higher-quality pictures than its predecessor, the Venus Engine III, by using a more advanced signal processing system. The new Venus Engine IV also improves noise reduction, elevates the detection accuracy and corrective effects in both Mega O.I.S. and Intelligent ISO and reduces the shutter release time lag. Both models also incorporate Intelligent LCD, which detects the lighting condition and controls the brightness level of the LCD in 11 fine steps, to offer optimal clarity in any situation, whether dark or light; indoors or outdoors. With a newly developed 460,000-dot high resolution in the TZ5’s 3.0-inch LCD, photos can be easily viewed on the display, regardless of the shooting environment.
The TZ5 is also capable of recording 720p high-definition motion pictures, and because of its support of SD memory cards, is easily compatible with Panasonic Viera plasma HDTVs that have an integrated SD memory card slot, so viewing photos is simple. Also, with the newly added HD component output capability, users can also connect the TZ5 to an HDTV and watch a slideshow complete with mood-appropriate music, choosing from natural, slow, urban and swing.
Best Digital Camera! Most for the $$$ by far!
When the time came to replace our 5-year-old Sony Cybershot I did lots of research all the while intending to buy another Sony. When I came across this model I was intrigued. Most of the digital cameras I had considered touted many features I would never use. This digital camera offered everything on my checklist with a unique added bonus in this price range----A REAL lens with incredible zoom and wide shot capabilities.
I bought it about three weeks ago and could not be happier. We have taken many photos and videos during the final weeks of the school year and I am blown away by the difference in quality VS our old Sony. Low-light photos are brilliant. Isn't technology wonderful?!!?!!

Excellent Choice
This is a truly excellent choice for a small digital camera. Pocket sized yet a great 10x optical Leica zoom, excellent auto function and easy to read instructions. Fantastic view finder and wide angle, as well as micro. I highly recommend the TZ5 and TZ4. Simply said, used it over a month with 200 plus photo's of graduation and grandchildren, including crystal clear movies, 10 out of 10.
Love this digital camera
I am so pleased with this inexpensive digital camera. I have a 3 month old son, who generally has red eyes in every picture, but the automatic red eye removal works wonders!! When a picture is first taken I can see he has red eyes in the picture, but after about 2 seconds the best digital camera automatically removes them, no more manually editing every single picture!

Nice and Simple
This is a
simple little digital camera and is quick in every way. I have had a few
canon cameras in the past and not too much has changed. You get solid
photos from this point and shoot. Not as good as a digital SLR but then again
the cost and size make those every day trips great. If you are looking for a
nice little camera, that takes very good photos, quick to start up and easy to
use, this is the one for you.

Quick, easy, great pictures
I decided to get the SD 1100, rather than the 1000 or 750 my friends have, and I'm glad I did. The image stabilization works well, and having the extra megapixels means my shots consistently look just a bit better than theirs. Further, the thing is so remarkably small that it comes with me almost everywhere. It boots up quickly, too, making it easier to get shots of animals or moving people.
I didn't
install the included software, so I can't comment on that, but I do appreciate
that pictures import into Picasa just fine without it.

Bought inexpensive digital camera to replace my bulky PowerShot S3. This digital camera is small, so much so that it can perfectly fit in your pocket. It's about the same size as a cell phone. The face detection on this digital camera is amazing, it will track faces (even if they are moving) and focus right on them. There are a few settings that can be played with in the manual mode, but not many. This is to be expected though being it is a point and shoot. I love the navigational pad, it is flush to the rest of the digital camera, but it is big enough so you don't mistake the keys (even if you are not looking). The battery life on the digital camera is great, usually get around 240 pictures, but that can be extended by tweaking the power save settings in the menu. There is only one function I wish they would have added to the digital camera, and that is stitch shooting. The style of inexpensive digital camera is great, the chrome ring around the lens looks awesome, but will get finger prints all over it realllly quick.
Over all
this digital camera is amazing, just wish there was a stitch feature.

Well, this
might be a little different approach to the typical review, but I thought it
was only fair since I spend so much doe at this website! Firstly, the
credentials of this digital camera are above reproach. The finist German
Lens on the market. The most powerful zoom on a compact point and shoot. I
could go on, but hey, this is a best digital camera. Only one thing I
could add. You might find this a dirty trick, but, tough luck. I went to Costco
and got it with a coupon and it came with a case, a 1 gig card, and it was
$199.00. So don't be mad anyone, I spend plenty here, I just thought it fair to
pass along the advice. Gooday, from a
faithful Amazon buyer. J

Great,
versatile and inexpensive digital camera.
By

I bought this inexpensive digital camera, after quite a bit of research, to replace my Canon SD400 that was going on three years of use (and I always have a digital camera on me, so that's a lot of use). I wanted something relatively small but more capable than my Canon, which took great pictures of still objects in great lighting and decent video, but was slow and limited by its 3X zoom and insensitive flash.
Out of the box, the TZ4K looks nice, albeit a little clunky next to the sleek Elphs and other more compact cameras on the market. However, it powers up quickly and adapts readily to just about anything I've tested so far (the first week I had it consisted of nothing but rain, so for a while I was just doing poorly-lit indoor shots of my cats and random furniture. That said, that my cats actually looked like cats and not blurry blobs or white glowing things is a major improvement over my old camera).
I took it to the zoo, where it had a little trouble deciding what to focus on if using the long end of the zoom (especially if the subject was moving), but I suspect this could be helped by turning off the continuous auto-focus. I got a few interesting action shots of my three-year-old nephew running around. I took it to the bar with a few friends and had a shoot-off with a friend who owns a Nikon. Today I took it on a hike and tried out the scenery and macro modes, the latter of which can be a little tricky sometimes. It can't always decide whether it should be focusing on the background or the foreground, even when macro mode is selected (though it does tell you when you're too close for it to focus). I did notice some of the focus changes during video mode that some people have complained about in reviews of this and the TZ3/TZ5, but to be honest it was minimal and can be avoided by turning off the AF. Sound quality is comparable to my Canon -- not the highest quality, but clear and audible. Battery life is good and it has a battery meter on-screen, so you don't have to hunt through any menus to find out how long you've got. I bought it bundled with the 4GB SDHC and reader and they arrived on the same day. Also got a Lowepro Rezo 30 case for it, which isn't too bulky but has a soft lining and lots of padding.
Overall, I
really love this digital camera and would recommend it to anyone
interested in purchasing it. Definitely worth it.

I've had the inexpensive digital camera for about 3 weeks. I'm very pleased. I own four other camera's and the 1030sw is fast becoming my favorite. The buttons make sense where they have them and the best digital camera as a whole was definitely user friendly.
Lot's of extra goodies in the software to manipulate settings. And I'm just as pleased with the closeups too.
I will be taking it to work in my lunch box for the sole purpose of getting pictures of train derailments and if you view the photo gallery I put half a dozen pic's there that will speak for themselves.
Yes the inexpensive digital camera is spendy but if you want tough, and easy to pull out of a shirt pocket and use (quickly) this is it. 5 stars for this waterproof, crushproof, IRONMAN TANK OF A CAMERA!!

I purchase the Cybershot and was very amazed. The picture was very clear and with very little know how I was able to use the different functions easily. My family and I will really enjoy our vacation more with our long lasting pictures of places we have seen. That's why Cybershot is Cyberright for us. Thank you Sony!!!

Best
inexpensive digital camera!!!

I was looking for a inexpensive digital camera for my mom (her first digital!) and since I am familiar with Sony Cybershot I decided to get her this one. I agree this is an excellent choice for people who are not very fond of technology, very user-friendly and the screen has a pretty good size. It is also lightweight considering it uses AA batteries. I love the fact that it gives a brief description of the setting you are selecting, once again great for beginners! The internal memory is very helpful since it doesn't come with a memory stick. Great quality pictures, too bad my mom probably won't use most of the different settings.

Just got
this digital camera Last week, so still learning!
By James
C. Welch III "Jensen80" (The ATL)
I just baught this inexpensive digital camera last week, after reaching the limit of where I felt I could grow with a point and shoot cam. I wanted to move into the more versital world of DSLR. So far so good. I have had good luck with this camera, as stated in other reviews it does have a tendecy to be off a little on color, but not enough you notice when printing out pic.
I find the menus easy to use, and the digital camera fits into your hands well. I am a big guy 6+ with large hands and I foun. the Cannon and Olympus Cams to small for my hands (on the flip side, my wife is a petit woman and finds this camera a little big) I have been using this for a week or two so far in conjuction with Corel® Paint Shop Pro® Photo X2 and I have been able to create some great orginal images.
Pros:
- Sharp, crip images
- Quick Auto Focus
- Easy Menus
Cons:
- Bit of a learning cureve from a point and shoot (To be expected since you want the extra versotility, but it takes time to master)
- Colors are a little off, but not enough to distract from this picture.
Please read the full review for this cam on DP Review.

Wonderful
prosumer DSLR
By
Bindlestiff (rixtertech.com)
Extensive comparison between Pentax, Nikon, Sony, Olympus and Canon led me to pick the K200 as my first DSLR and after a few weeks of shooting it's starting to feel comfortable and so very much better than my old Canon point-and-shoot. Comments from a newbies perspective:
The menus are truly a pleasure for older eyes. Choosing the 'large' text only affects the line on which the cursor rests, so as not to overcrowd the display. Both sizes of text are very readable. If you wear or need glasses, you'll like the menus. There are TWO menu systems to consider when operating the inexpensive digital camera. The 'Fn' button on the right brings up a smaller set of menus for ISO, white balance, and shooting 'mode' (single frame, burst mode, bracketing exposures & etc) and a few other functions that you will be most likely to need to access when shooting. This allows you to dive into your most-needed settings without having to slog around in the larger full set of menus. Ergonomics are good for me, a medium-to-large handed lefty. As others mention, the best digital camera is large and no lightweight. Oddly (for such a big camera), the buttons on the 4-way controller ought to be a bit larger but it's very useable as is.
The kit lens is intended for generic use: it's not meant to be extremely good in low-light situations without flash, and if you're looking for a lot of zoom you'll be buying another lens shortly. It's a compromise, a good lense for most peoples daily usage. There's nothing really 'wrong' with it, but it may not be the only lens you'll want to own. The kit lens uses 52mm filters, while other lenses you eventually buy may use other sizes. You should get a UV filter and a polarizing filter right away and leave the UV filter on most of the time to protect the lens. Either of these filters can make a huge difference in the quality of your pictures, with the polarizing filter giving you the ability to 'dial out' glare and reflected or scattered light.
You Will Read The Fine Manual. The Product Description section on Amazon that claims the K200D is 'as friendly as a simple point-&-shoot' is quite a stretch of the truth. The manual is pretty good, luckily. Your best bet might be to set the best digital camera up on a tripod indoors and actually work through any section that confuses you. Hint: learn about using Aperture Priority and take series of shots that use f-stop to adjust depth of field.
There is two 'Cons' against buying this inexpensive digital camera. There is no 'live' view through the LCD, though there is a 'preview' mode that displays a frozen frame. So if you want to frame shots using the LCD this might NOT be the digital camera for you. I shoot through the viewfinder at all times so this is fine for me, but might really disappoint someone who expects to be able to see their shots lined up in the LCD.
The second problem is the USB connector. The end that plugs into the digital camera is a sort of micro-mini d-shaped connector. The tiny jack on the digital camera is one exception to the 'built like a tank' design of the k200, and I'm not sure how it'll hold up. Maybe other cameras are no better, but I would have liked to see a larger, more robust connecter here even if it had to be proprietary.
I expect this Inexpensive digital camera to keep me confused and entertained for years, and feel very pleased and proud to have chosen it over other great entry-level DSLRs like the Olympus Evolt series, the Sony A series and the various Nikon D models. AA batteries, rugged weather sealed construction, and a huge, easily legible LCD made this digital camera a winner for me.

Brings a
lot to play with
By

I'm not a pro photographer, but my transition from a film reflex to a compact digital camera a few years ago was painful, I missed too much being able to bend the traditional limits of digital cameras, especially to take night pics. I finally convinced myself to get "good" inexpensive digital camera. I hesitated a long time between the SLR-quality Sigma DP1, the tiny Olympus E-420 and this Pentax. The reasons for my final choice were a) the great first reviews, b) the quality of the build and "ruggedness" of the digital camera (seals, AA batteries), c) the availability of pancake lenses to limit bulkiness.
I've had the digital camera for a week now. The first images came out beautiful and sharp. I also like the best camera's programmability (define what each button does) and I think there is a lot to win by reading the manual thoroughly. At the moment I'm taking most pictures in RAW + JPG and fine-tuning the raw image if I think it deserves it, but I like the raw button which allows you to switch easily between file formats.
Because I like tuning things myself, I don't use most of the "easy" functions, but they hardly ever are in my way.
Overall, if you're going for a reflex, want good quality and don't mind a couple newbie-like features, I really recommend this Inexpensive digital camera.

Great gadget...,
By Humberto P. Charles (Brasil)
This is the best digital camera i ever had. Very compact, beautiful color, great photos and superb video. The photo quality is very good for a non professional camera you just have to find the best configuration. I had an equivalent model from Sony and i must say Casio is much better and inexpensive digital camera. Stylish, the best digital camera has a splendid video definition and it`s very easy to make movies. After a research i think this is the best option for this price and configuration. I am very satisfied until now.

Best Digital Camera, excellent pictures and superb video capabilities. Small, slim, very user friendly. My only gripe with the best camera low price is that the format is MOV/MPG4 and not AVI/MPG4 which requires that I use quicktime to view videos (as opposed to windows media player).

Great slim point & shoot digital camera
By Timothy T. Burlowski "timbu" (Lino Lakes, MN)
I loved the last Casio Exilim I bought. Here is what I think of this one.
1. Battery life doesn't seem to be quite as long
2. Focus in low light is unimproved or worse
3. The menus are more cluttered not less
4. Moving the focus control from the dial on top to the back was a mistake
5. I love the bright huge display
6. I love the ease of use
7. I love the slim design
8. Love the bright finish and color.
If the low light capabilities both of focus and ability to gather light were improved I would rave about this digital camera low price.

Description Samsung Digimax S730 7.2MP
Samsung's user-friendly point-and-shoot S730 digital camera represents the next generation of Samsung's most popular point-and-shoot digital still camera products. This powerful, compact digital camera combines Samsung's advanced image processing technology and quality optics with a straightforward, uncluttered user interface and stylish ergonomic design.
The S730 simplifies the picture-taking process to let photographers capture images without worrying about adjusting multiple settings. Samsung's ASR image stabilization system helps to reduce digital camera shake and image blur during longer exposures and in situations where holding the digital camera steady is impossible or a tripod is unavailable. When taking pictures outdoors, the S730 automatically detects environmental light conditions through the CCD and adjusts the brightness of the LCD display for optimal image viewing.
Thoughtful features like red-eye reduction allow users to focus on getting the images they want without having to worry about tedious exposure adjustments or editing. The conveniently located mode dial provides instant access to the camera's most commonly used settings, such as Auto, Program, manual, Movie, Scene, ASR, Night Scene, and Portrait. Individual dedicated modes for common-yet-difficult shooting situations including Close-Up (to capture all of the detail at a subject at a close focal range), Sunset (to take advantage of soft, waning light), and Backlight (to compensate for a dark subject lit from behind) are included.
The S730 features a built-in microphone, which allows a 10-second voice memo to be attached to any still image. Slide Show automatically scrolls through photos and displays them on a bright and vivid 2.5-inch TFT LCD screen. The digital camera 's Movie mode lets users capture video in one of two resolutions, 320 x 240 and 640 x 480 at 15 frames per second in AVI (MJPEG) format. Just as in still-picture mode, the ASR image stabilization system can be engaged to compensate for unwanted digital camera movement and subject blur in movie mode.
For maximum versatility, the S730 can be powered by optional high-energy rechargeable Ni-MH batteries as well as available-everywhere AA alkaline cells, which is a surefire boon for travelers and other power users.
All of
these features are contained in a sleek housing that measures a mere 3.9 inches (width) by 2.5 inches (height) by 1 inch (depth). The included
USB 2.0 cable and CD-ROM containing Samsung's Digimax Master software
(compatible with Windows 98/2000/ME/XP and Macintosh OS X 9.2 through 10.4)
will get even beginning photographers up and shooting right out of the
box.
The S730 contains 20MB of internal memory and can accept Secure Digital (SD) flash memory cards up to 4GB.
